Themed Routes
A look at the DVB network will reveal two very special tourist attractions almost hidden from view: the themed tram routes wind their way like recreational trails along interesting courses through the city and out into Dresden’s surroundings. As well as their general function as part of the regular network, the “Kultourlinie 4” culture route and "Einkaufslinie 9" shopping route connect themed sightseeing stops. Kultourlinie 4 (culture route)
This route, the longest and culturally most interesting on the DVB network, runs from the Dresden district of Laubegast to the resort of Weinböhla, just outside Meißen. Along the route of almost 30 km you pass various sights which have made our region famous well beyond the borders of Saxony. Historical buildings, numerous museums with valuable collections, artistic variety and culture of all kinds cover the entire spectrum of the Saxon way of life. Attractive features of the landscape such as the vineyards on the slopes of the Elbe in Radebeul make for wonderful views and turn a trip on route 4 into an experience encompassing wine, art and culture. A low-cost alternative to a regular city tour.
Einkaufslinie 9 (shopping route)
Not only does Dresden have a large number of cultural jewels in its crown, it is also well known far beyond the city borders for its varied, stylish shopping. "Einkaufslinie 9", the shopping route, is a convenient way to hop from shop to shop. The route 9 trams travel back and forth between the city’s two largest shopping centres: the Elbe Park in the northwest and Kaufpark Nickern in the southeast of Dresden. Along the route there are also several shopping arcades and pedestrian precincts which make an inviting place for a little window-shopping. The famous shopping street Prager Straße and the Altmarkt Galerie mall in the city centre are easy to reach, as is the main shopping street Hauptstraße in the Neustadt. Best of all, with DVB AG you can save yourself a stressful hunt for parking spaces and avoid traffic jams and fines. Have a great time shopping at leisure on route 9.
